Former ANCIENT RITES Guitarist Adds Drummer To AHRÁYEPH Project

February 17, 2007

AHRÁYEPH, the solo project of former ANCIENT RITES guitarist Raf, has added drummer Steve Vanderperren, formerly of prog metal band IO, to its ranks.

Commented Raf: "Steve was interested in AHRÁYEPH from a while back, when we were talking about me producing IO's demo. This never came to fruition, though, so I thought that was it. Then, about two weeks ago, he mailed me saying he was very much interested in joining AHRÁYEPH, since he liked the music. Frankly, I wasn't into the idea of taking a drummer on board and if it had been anyone else except Steve offering his services, I would surely have said no. But Steve's just too talented a drummer and a top bloke to boot, so we sat down the other day and had a constructive talk. The end result was that my reservations about having a drummer joining us fell by the wayside, so welcome Steve! Having him with us will certainly open up a lot of things music wise for the future."

As AHRÁYEPH is recording the last vocal parts of its debut album, "Marooned on Samsara", the decision was made to not prolong the recording process. All efforts will be put into finishing the record while Steve gets started on learning his drum parts so the band can start rehearsing immediately afterwards. Meanwhile, AHRÁYEPH has started its search for a record label to release "Marooned on Samsara" after a succesful demo giveaway campaign. Later this spring they will be playing some tryout gigs.
